Circling the Drain...and Leading to Tragedy

Hello KatyCats,

Some of you may not know this, but as of today Katy is having a really hard time. Last night, an ex-boyfriend of Katy's was found dead and the story about that is really quite mysterious. In 2005-2006 Katy dated the "Sons of Anarchy" star, Johnny Lewis.
I read probably five different articles about how she is dealing with his sudden, untimely death and I got just about the same thing with each article. Katy was just a struggling artist in LA at the time. I read that a Katy source has said that those were good memories that she had with him and that she is "devastated" right now about his death.
Now, Johnny Lewis was renting a room from an 81-year-old Catherine Davis. Last night neighbors reported hearing her screaming and some witnessed a man jumping over the fence towards and back from the house. They said that the man had jumped the fence and gone on to assault a homeowner and a painter next door. That in it's own way is very...fishy. Then, there's also the mystery of how Catherine Davis was also found dead in the home, and so far, Lewis is the only suspect. But then, from the looks of his body, he either jumped or was pushed, or fell from the garage or rooftop or patio stares of the house. So far, not much has been found out about these deaths.
Even when Katy was with Johnny, she noticed that he was on a destructive path. She knew that he was dealing with some hard times, but never in a million years did she think that he would die this young. I mean, the guy was only 28! On this subject, a Katy insider told Us Weekly:
"She had to separate from him ... to get ahead and focus on her career," the source explains. "He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him."
"A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him. I know 'The One That Got Away' and 'Circle the Drain' are partly about him, as well as Travis [McCoy of Gym Class Heroes], but she was young and it was a time in her life she cherishes. They had good times. It's really sad. She could never help him and couldn't [let herself] go in that direction."

So, after learning of Johnny's role in the lyrics of these two songs, I had to find out more. I went and researched the lyrics and tried to make some connections. If you click on this link you can see the greatest interpretation of this "The One that Got Away" that I have been able to find. I think that a lot more of her relationship with this troubled man is found in "Circle the Drain". It's about falling in love with a drug addict who would tell her that he would be able to stop and  "it would be the last time" and breaking that promise over and over again. This song and "The One that Got Away" are more examples of the things that Katy feels that we can all relate to. I mean, even if some of us have never had that experience with a druggie, but everyone has felt the betrayal and heartache over a broken promise.

So, KatyCats, I want to leave you with this to think about: Would you have stayed and tried to change someone who didn't want to be changed if you "were in another life"? Or would you have not "stayed and watched him circle the drain"?

Much Love, KatyCats!

And so, Katy is the Woman of the Year!

Hey KatyCats!

I have wonderful news! As of today, Katy Perry has been named Billboard's "Woman of the Year"! Congratulations to all of us, because we helped to get her there! This is such a wonderful achievement for her after her emotional ups and downs this year. She (although she is like no other) is following in the footsteps of past winners like Beyonce, Fergie, and last year's winner, Taylor Swift.
Katy's success in her career is truly remarkable. She has had huge hits on both of her albums and in fact, both of her albums combined have sold over 4 million copies! She's also sold over 48 million single tracks in the U.S. alone! She even has songs like "Firework" and "California Gurls" among the top 30 downloaded songs EVER! That's pretty impressive! Not to mention, Katy's record of the only female with nine #1's on the pop songs chart. Katy's "Teenage Dream" album spent over 100 weeks in the Billboard 200. As I said, Katy's success has been AMAZING!!

Katy's dominance over these also spilled over into the "California Dreams" tour. The tour sold out over 124 arenas while also sending money to charity. And then she had her summer blockbuster movie "Katy Perry: Part of Me" that she not only starred in but produced. This movie gave us a look into her personal ups and downs and the pressure and pleasure of her tour. It really made us love her even more. Another thing is that we as KatyCats have taken over twitter and facebook and that we are her "legion of fans." I think that's pretty cool. Katy has also become a lean-mean-branding-machine with her own fragrances and nail polish and false eyelashes. Not only that, but she has been the face of Proactiv and now Popchips. Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde called her "one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry." Werde also said, "Katy Perry broke into the industry not even five years ago, and has already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in an entire career,"
I am so excited for Katy I cannot even express myself! This is such a wonderful thing for her and I am excited to share in her victory. Think about it, if we weren't buying all of her amazing music, she would not be winning this award. Therefore, this is our win too, KatyCats! Katy will be officially  accepting her award at the 2012 Women in Music event in New York on November, 30th.

Congrats, KatyCats!

Have you ever been "Lost"?

Hey KatyCats!

So, I decided today to do a post about a kind of "unknown" Katy song. For those of you who don't have the "One of the Boys" album, the song "Lost" is a very inspirational and relatable song from that album. This song almost brought me to tears the first time I heard it, and like most of Katy's songs, it's one that everyone can relate to. I'll post a link to the lyrics at the bottom and I will also post a video right below that!
The lyrics in "Lost" are actually quite powerful and I think have very deep meaning, but this song can mean different things for everyone depending on where they are in their life. "Lost" is about knowing where you want to go in life, but not knowing how to get there. It's a cry for help that I think everyone has experienced. Everyone has felt hopelessness and this song is about that feeling. Katy always tries to relate to her fans on a very deep level of emotion and this song is a PRIME example of that. And like I said, the meaning can be different to everyone just depending on where you are in life. Personally, this song is one that I can relate to right now. Sometimes, even when you know exactly what you want, you have no idea how to get to the point where you can achieve that goal, and you are just...well, lost.
So, KatyCats, as I leave with what I think is my shortest post ever, I simply have one question I want you to think about. "Have you ever been so lost, known the way and still...so lost?"

Find your way, KatyCats, and stay strong,

Katy Perry "Lost" Lyrics

"Katy Perry: Part of Me" is now OFFICIALLY AVAILABLE!

Great News KatyCats!
Today is the day that Katy's movie "Katy Perry: Part of Me" is officially out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Personally, I saw this movie in theaters twice. I fell in love with this movie and even people who aren't  that big of Katy fans liked the movie.
I think this movie was different from other celebrity "concert-type" movies. Yes this film showed amazing concert footage and it was really cool to see if you didn't have the chance to go to the California Dreams tour. But this movie gave you a different side of Katy. This movie showed the side of Katy that we don't normally get to see as fans. Not only did this show what Katy was like before she was famous, but also a lot of the "behind the scenes" of the days of her marriage and how she really dealt with running herself ragged while touring. It showed her good and bad sides.
A.O. Scott of the New York Times says "Katy Perry is more than just another pop sweetie. She is an energetic, industrious personification of the marvelous paradoxes that contemporary commercial music encompasses". I agree one hundred percent. "Part of Me" show's Katy at the height of her tour talking about how her goal is to have every audience member simply smile but it also shows her dealing with her marriage issues and how she almost cancelled a show because she was so distraught. But I think it's wonderful and really portrays who Katy is that even that night, when she almost shut the whole thing down, something we have never gotten to see before, that she continues on because she loves her fans. "Part of Me" really showcases everything she has gone through to get to where she is now and it makes us love her even more. This movie makes her even more relatable. I think it shows us that she was really just like us, and possible even more sheltered than most.Growing up, Katy had little to no idea what the real world was like. It wasn't until she moved out into it that she really found herself. Either way, she has been where each of us is right now and she has felt the exact same thing that each of us has felt. She knows what it's like to be different and her message to each of us is to simply embrace that side of yourself and live life to the fullest.
"Katy Perry: Part of Me" is available today on DVD which offers the DVD version of the movie, the digital copy, and UltraViolet, along with the full concert footage of "Last Friday Night" where her sister gets up on stage with her and dances as Kathy Beth Terry from the T.G.I.F. music video and a special Katy feature called "Grandma: Thinking of You". I have no idea what that is but I'm sure it's interesting. On the 2-disc DVD Blu-Ray combo pack it includes everything mentioned above, plus the full concert performance of "Waking Up in Vegas" and footage of the California Dreams Tour behind the scenes. It also comes in a 3-disc 3D version including everything mentioned above.
Personally I love this movie and cannot wait to buy it for myself. I (being a huge KatyCat) loved her from the start, but this movie gave even me  a new appreciation for her as a person and everything she does. I encourage all KatyCats and Katy fans and well, everyone, to see this movie.

Love you ALL,

All about Katy's "Teenage Dream"

Hey KatyCats,
In conjunction with my great mood today, I decided to write all about Katy's album Teenage Dream.
Teenage Dream was Katy's biggest album ever. It was bigger than her gospel record ever was, and it was far bigger than even her One of the Boys album. She had six of the songs on that album hit #1 on the charts. Those six were: Teenage Dream, California Gurls, Firework, E.T., Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), and The One that Got Away. She was the first female artist who had more than five number one singles off of one album.  Katy became an icon because of THIS album! Later when the Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection album came out, she had two more songs hit #1. That was the recent Part of Me and Wide Awake. Wide Awake was actually the last single that will ever be released from the Teenage Dream era of Katy Perry.

I think that Teenage Dream is all about showing Katy's fun and crazy side. She really stepped up her level of adorable-ness. She comments that she was "going from Shirley Temple, Betty Boop to more of a Betty Paige [sic], pop art-sarcastic-fun-Lichtenstein picture: still bright, but the colors are more saturated, and it's more metallic fuchsia or purple than bubblegum pink." I absolutely loved the "candyland" theme of her album with the candy and cake. I also loved just about every song on this album. It was filled with inspiration and lots of catchy beats and lyrics. This was my favorite album and I have loved everything about it. Though I think that the single Teenage Dream is my favorite, I love all of these songs.
I often wonder if she will ever make a better album (and I am sure she will) but I think that Teenage Dream will always be remembered as Katy's greatest album. You know, unless she happens to make another album and have every song be a number one hit. But I think that Teenage Dream is Katy's greatest album to date.

Live your Teenage Dream KatyCats,

K-Pattz or R-Perr?

Hey KatyCats!

So I know that right now this is all over the web, that Katy Perry and Robert Pattinson might have "a thing." It's been said that they have been each others "shoulder to cry on" so to speak, with Katy's recent split from John Mayer and Rob's betrayal from Kristen Stewart.
The two have been friends for a long time. They were introduced by actress Shannon Woodward at a birthday party. They have been close friends for years and have always supported each other. When Katy and former husband Russel Brand split, Rob was completely there for Katy and right now she is doing the same for him.
They have been seen together a lot recently and the big sighting was in L.A.'s SoHo resteraunt. They were seen together though Robert was hard to recognize because he had a cap pulled over his face."She was jokey with him and a little touchy-feely," an eyewitness said, according to Us Weekly. "They were flirting." Personally, I think they would be adorable together. Many do not share my opinion though, as I looked on Perez Hilton's article on this topic I saw many comments labeling Katy as a "skank" and many others like that. Personally, I don't understand these comments, but that is how Hollywood is. You date a known "heartbreaker" and you are labeled accordingly. I don't quite think that's fair. Anyway, Katy says she would love to be with Rob though she would never admit it to him. Sources have said that because he has not yet "officially called it off" with Kristen, she's going to back off for a while.
I honestly think that this would be good for the both of them. I think that Rob could use a little more fun in his life and Katy would simply be perfect for that because though she is a lot of fun, she's also loyal. I think loyalty would be a good thing for him right now. I also think that it's time that Katy gets a good guy. She's had a few bad boys lately and I think that Rob would be a good guy for her, and a nice change of pace.

Let me know what you think should happen. And what you think their couple name would be; K-Pattz or R-Perr?

See you soon, KatyCats!
