The Famous Hair!

Hey KatyCats!
So, I recently saw a photo of Katy online showing that she has actually dyed her hair again. This time it's orange! I found out only later that she was wearing a wig for the photo shoot, but I personally think she still rocked the color! It really inspired me to do an article all about Katy's famous hair!
In case you didn't know, Katy is actually a natural blonde. When she first came out as the gospel artist, Katy Hudson, she still had her blonde hair! As you see below, she is still absolutely gorgeous.
When Katy perry moved out and started her own life, she often went out to clubs where she was first really seen. At this time, and when she was first discovered as Katy Perry (for the "One of the Boys" album) she had her hair dyed black. Katy's hair looks absolutely beautiful black and i think it may have been one of my favorite colors on her. I feel like it brought out her eyes and really suited her skin tone nicely. It also kind of added to her "vintage-y" look in the beginning of her career.
As her career progressed i feel that her confidence also progressed and she started putting herself out there more, hence the crazy hair colors. I love it! From the pink, to the blue, to the recent purple I adore almost every color that Katy has dyed her hair. I think that Katy's multicolored hair is yet another statement of how self-loving and accepting she is. Katy is absolutely 100% not afraid to be who she really is. She loves herself for just being her and she doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks.

Katy is a monumental icon and she really isn't scared of anyone else. She will be who she is until the end and nobody will tell her otherwise. Whether it's dying her hair orange, or wearing a dress made of cupcakes, Katy Perry is different and she certainly isn't hiding it. She did that for a long time with other record companies and I think that's why she loves doing what she does now because she really can be herself; her true self.
So what I want to leave you with, fellow Katy lovers, is that you shouldn't be afraid to be who you really are. And if you need anyone to look up to, look to her.
    Love you all,

I'm "Wide Awake"

Hey there, KatyCats!
Due to the huge popularity of this song, I decided to blog about it! I am absolutely in love with Katy's newest song, "Wide Awake". This song for me has a very personal meaning. This song is all about waking up and realizing when you come out of a dark place that you don't want to go back. I recently went through this and this song really resonates with me. I think it's lyrics are easily relatable and the song is about realizing the truth, wether it be in a relationship or in any other part of life, it is truly about waking up and realizing that you won't make the same mistake again. This song is an example of how I want to live my life now. This song is a truly inspirational, melodic lesson of life. I simply adore it!
I think that this song has lyrics everyone can relate to and the video is another example of how we can all relate to it. There are a lot of subtle symbols in Katy's video and in an interveiw she stated "I know exactly what that music video is. I know exactly who is directing it. I know the art direction, the people, the narrative, and I had that idea while I was writing the song".  As you watch the video and listen to the song, you realize the subtle things that were inserted into the video, such as the "Prince Charming" character crossing his fingers behind his back, and the young Katy and the old Katy coming face to face. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wide_Awake_(Katy_Perry_song) you can read the full synopsis of the music video. It's really interesting to read and I encourage you to take a look. I think you'll be surprised at how many references to Katy's past there really are in the video.
Everyone has been through the heartache of a person who pretends to love you and that's what this song is about. Well, the heartache making you stronger, that is! We all go through stuff like this, but coming out of the other end "Wide Awake" and ready to move on is where we truly have strength.
Stay Strong, KatyCats!

The real story of "I Kissed a Girl"

Hello KatyCats!

In honor of my first real post about Katy Perry, I decided to post about her first huge single, "I Kissed a Girl"!
Katy Perry, released this single on April 28th, 2008 and this song was her big break. Before this song, Katy had been through a lot! She had been dropped by three different record labels, and had been trying almost all her life to become the huge artist that this song made her. I guess what a lot of people don't realize is that she wasn't just an instant success.
This song was actually (according to Katy) inspired by Scarlett Johansson and also by a friend of Katy's in her young life. Katy stated in an interview that "When we're young, we're very touchy-feely. We have slumber party sing-a-longs, we make up dance routines in our pajamas. We’re a lot more intimate in a friendship than guys can be. It’s not perverse but just sweet,..." She has also said that this particular song was one that she thought of long before she ever actually recorded it. She said the song was one she simply woke up with in her head one morning, but didn't do anything about for years! This song in particular, though caused a lot of controversy among the critics.
Many critics do like the song and praise it's catchy beat and tune. There was a lot of controversy about the lyrics, though. many actually thought it put shame to homosexuality because it was all about experimentation and that there was no feeling involved, but Katy defends her song to the end. She, herself is heterosexual and says the song is simply about a fantasy. Others say that the lyrics are putting shame to homosexuality by the fact that in the lyrics "hope my boyfriend don't mind it" portray that she is simply trying to receive attention from her boyfriend (and her audience). Other critics simply say that the song's hecklers may be fueled by homophobia. Personally, I still believe that this song is truly great and I encourage you to comment on how you feel about it. Is it offensive or just fun fantasy? You truly decide!

Much Love KatyCats!
